Greg Scanlon

Senior Consultant

Greg Scanlon has over a decade of political experience at the local, state, and federal level, working with stakeholders ranging from campaigns and committees to state parties and independent expenditure groups. During the 2013-2014 cycle, he served as research director for the Democratic Governors Association, where he established and ran the committee’s first in-house opposition research department through 38 gubernatorial elections.

Greg got his first taste of campaigns after spending a college winter break on Dick Gephardt’s 2004 presidential race. After graduating from the University of Virginia, he spent the 2005 election in New Jersey as part of EMILY’s List Campaign Corps program, before returning to Richmond to implement and expand research and communications efforts for the state Democratic Party and legislative caucuses.

 In 2010, Greg served as research director for Brad Ellsworth’s Senate race in Indiana and consulted independently before heading to Washington. During the 2012 cycle, he oversaw the Senate research team at American Bridge 21st Century, which played a prominent role in elevating the likes of Todd Akin and Richard Mourdock to infamy in a year originally seen as ripe for a Republican Senate takeover.

Greg has served as a panelist for several Campaigns & Elections events and is a Truman National Security Project Political Partner.
